Addiction & Codependency Therapy • Washington State
Every craving started as protection. Real healing begins with understanding what it was protecting you from.
Somatic, body-centered addiction therapy and codependency counseling for Washington residents ready to quiet the urge to numb, understand their coping patterns, and rebuild genuine self-trust.
I do not believe you are broken, and I am not here to shame you.
Many people avoid seeking help for substance use, drinking, or codependency because they dread being labeled, shamed, or forced into a rigid, one-size-fits-all program. In this space, we view addictive habits and codependency as deeply intelligent survival strategies. Your system adopted these habits to protect you from overwhelming pain, loneliness, or relational chaos. We don’t punish your coping mechanisms; we gently heal the underlying stress that makes them feel necessary.
Mild to moderate concerns — with honesty about what this practice can and can’t treat
This work is designed for people navigating mild to moderate substance use or drinking concerns and codependent relationship patterns — for example, relying on alcohol or substances more than you’d like, feeling unable to set limits with others, or noticing compulsive coping habits that are getting in the way of your life, but where you are still safely functioning day to day.
This is not a substitute for medical detox, inpatient treatment, or a higher level of care. If our work together reveals that your substance use needs more intensive or medically supervised support, I will help you find and connect with the right resources rather than attempt to treat something outside of what outpatient talk and somatic therapy can safely hold.
Why willpower alone fails to quiet cravings and numbing habits
We cannot think or talk our way out of a craving. A craving is a physical, nervous-system event — which is why willpower alone so often fails. Trying to force behavioral change without settling the physical nervous system underneath it only leaves you feeling raw, exposed, and exhausted.
To survive intense emotional or physical stress, your system learns to seek immediate relief. This is where numbing habits — whether they involve alcohol, substances, or screen spirals — step in. They act as emergency firefighters, temporarily dousing the alarm inside you so you can breathe.
Our work focuses on building safe, body-centered capacity, calming the underlying anxiety, and helping you find real, internal comfort — so the urge to numb has less to protect you from.
When keeping everyone else okay became your job
Codependency is its own pattern, distinct from substance use, though the two often travel together. It shows up as over-functioning for others, chronic people-pleasing, difficulty saying no, or losing track of your own needs entirely inside a relationship.
When you are trapped in codependency, your physical body is constantly braced. You might feel a chronic knot in your stomach or tight muscles. Saying “no” or setting a boundary can feel physically dangerous to your nervous system — because at some point, it may genuinely have been.
Codependency counseling here focuses on helping your nervous system learn that your own needs are allowed to matter, so boundary-setting stops feeling like a threat.
The Healing Methods We Weave Together
Whether the work is addiction-focused, codependency-focused, or both, we integrate body-centered processing with psychological depth work to help you reclaim emotional autonomy.
Settle the Urge to Numb or Over-Function
Notice the physical discomfort, cravings, or anxiety held in your core before it translates into action. Somatic therapy helps you track physical sensations, release stored fight-or-flight energy, and build a safe place to land inside your own skin.
How we work with the body →Reprocess the Root Triggers
Unprocessed childhood pain, relationship trauma, or attachment wounds often fuel the chronic anxiety that drives codependent over-functioning and substance use. Gentle EMDR reprocessing helps file these memories away safely so they stop hijacking your present.
How EMDR helps →Ease the Weight of Old Coping Habits
To survive painful relational environments, parts of you learned to over-function, manage others, or use numbing habits to cope. We connect with these exhausted parts of you with deep warmth (IFS), helping them step down from carrying the burden.

Hi, I’m Isabella Koepf
I am a holistic trauma therapist and somatic therapist who supports Washington residents navigating mild to moderate substance use, drinking concerns, and codependent relationship patterns.
I understand how exhausting it is to hold your system in constant hypervigilance — worrying about everyone else’s needs while trying to ignore the stress building inside your own body. I know how intelligent your coping habits are, and I hold an entirely non-judgmental, warm clinical space for your recovery.
By combining body-centered somatic therapy with parts work (IFS), EMDR, and soothing daily routines, we slowly help your physical system release historical stress and safely settle back into the present moment on your own terms.
