LGBTQIA+ Therapy, Gender Identity & Polyamory Counseling • Washington State

Your identity is a sanctuary, not a diagnostic puzzle.

Somatic-informed, queer-affirming online therapy for Washington residents navigating gender identity and transition, polyamory and consensual non-monogamy, minority stress, and religious trauma.

Radical Affirmation Only

We do not pathologize how you love, who you are, or how you express yourself.

Many queer and trans folks avoid therapy because they are tired of educating their therapist, or worry their gender identity, sexuality, or relationship structure (such as polyamory or consensual non-monogamy) will be treated as a symptom of their trauma.

I hold a fully affirming, celebratory clinical space.

Your identity is whole and healthy. We work with your nervous system and parts (IFS) to address systemic trauma, minority stress, and relationship patterns, without ever asking you to compromise or explain your basic existence.

“Queer healing isn’t just about survival. It is about settling the physical hypervigilance of minority stress so your body can finally feel safe enough to rest, play, and love.”
The Physical Impact of Minority Stress

Why living in a cis-heteronormative world leaves your body braced

When you exist as a marginalized identity, threat signals aren’t just in your past. They’re a continuous baseline of modern life. Chronic exposure to microaggressions, relational policing, invalidating systems, or coming-out trauma means your autonomic nervous system can spend decades locked in high alert.

This minority stress lives physically in the body: a chronic clenching in your jaw, shallow breathing, tightness in your chest, a nervous stomach, or a wave of hypervigilance when entering social or family spaces. Your body learns that letting its guard down is dangerous.

We work directly with this protective bracing. We don’t just talk about the stress logically. We use gentle body-centered somatic tracking and parts work (IFS) to help your physical core safely settle. This shows your system how to discharge active fight-or-flight energy, so it can recognize when you are truly secure and find comfort and stability in your own body.

Belonging

Coming Out & Chosen Family

Navigating the process of coming out to family, friends, or colleagues, and processing the grief when biological family isn’t able to meet you with acceptance. We support you in building and trusting chosen family and community.

Our Clinical Framework

Evidence-based somatic and identity repair

Because systemic stress and the trauma of hiding who you are affect your body and nervous system, we integrate several specialized, gentle practices:

Somatic Experiencing

Settle the Physical Minority Stress

Setting boundaries, coming out, or existing authentically can trigger automatic physical threat signals in your nervous system. Somatic therapy helps quiet these alarms, so your body can find real safety.

EMDR Reprocessing

Process Rejection & Medical Trauma

If memories of hostile encounters, medical gatekeeping, or family-of-origin rejection trigger a racing heart, gentle EMDR can help process those moments. This safely files them as past history so you can find comfort today.

How EMDR helps →
IFS & Parts Work

Support Your Protective Parts

To survive closeted or high-control environments, parts of you learned to hide, please others perfectly, or carry deep shame. We connect with these exhausted protective parts with real warmth (IFS), helping them safely step down.

Trauma Therapy

Address the Root Trauma

Childhood rejection, family-of-origin conflict, or years of hiding your identity can leave a lasting mark. Trauma therapy addresses those root experiences directly, alongside the somatic and identity work happening in session.

Lifespan Integration

Connect Past & Present

A gentle, memory-timeline based process that helps your nervous system recognize that earlier periods of hiding, rejection, or unsafety are in the past, so different parts of your life story feel more connected and resolved.

Answering Your Concerns

Common questions about queer somatic therapy

Navigating your identity takes real courage. Here is how this work supports your choices.

How do you support consensual non-monogamy and polyamorous relationship structures? +
With full, non-judgmental respect. Unlike traditional therapy spaces, which often treat non-monogamy as a symptom of commitment anxiety or trauma, I view polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and kink as healthy relationship orientations. We focus on building secure attachment, processing jealousy, setting transparent boundaries, and supporting your partnerships on your own terms.
Will you try to analyze or “fix” my gender identity or transition? +
Never. Your gender identity, expression, and choice of medical or social transition are healthy expressions of your authentic self. I am not here to gatekeep, evaluate, or treat your gender as a problem to solve. We focus on processing minority stress and medical gatekeeping anxiety, and helping your body feel like a safe, grounded place to live.
What is the connection between hiding your identity and chronic anxiety? +
When you grow up hiding your core self or are forced to suppress your identity to stay safe inside family-of-origin or religious structures, your body lives in a continuous, physical state of guardedness. This locks your nervous system in fight-or-flight, showing up as jaw clenching, chest tightness, or digestive stress. Somatic therapy gently helps your system recognize that the old environments no longer hold power over you, so your body can safely soften.
Do you offer couples or relationship therapy for polyamorous and LGBTQIA+ partnerships? +
Yes. Couples and relationship therapy is available in addition to individual sessions, including for polyamorous and consensually non-monogamous partnerships. Learn more about couples therapy or reach out to discuss scheduling and rates for joint sessions.
