A Sanctuary of Safety

Scary, intrusive thoughts do not make you a bad mother.

Many postpartum parents avoid starting therapy because they are afraid that sharing their deepest struggles, like flash-frames of harm, intense postpartum rage, or hypervigilant OCD safety checking, will lead to judgment or a referral to social services.

I hold a space of real safety and neurobiological understanding.

These scary, intrusive thoughts are not desires. They are your over-activated, sleep-deprived nervous system misfiring its protective alarm. In our space, we meet these symptoms with warm, clinical validation, helping your body settle without pressure or shame.

“Matrescence is as profound a transition as adolescence, a structural, neurological, and physical rewrite of who you are. Your body is not failing. It is stretching to hold a new life.”
The Somatic Architecture of Motherhood

Why the transition to motherhood exhausts the physical body

From the moment of conception through birth and the postpartum fourth trimester, your body experiences a profound hormonal and neurological restructuring. Your brain rewires itself to become highly attuned to your baby. But when sleep deprivation, medical birth shock, or past trauma are layered on top, this natural attunement can cross the line into chronic hypervigilance.

Your body begins to exist in a state of continuous bracing: tension in your jaw, shallow chest breathing, a tight stomach, and an automatic baseline of panic during infant cries. Talking logically about your worries isn’t enough to calm this biological threat response.

We work directly with your body’s survival responses. By integrating Somatic Experiencing with gentle parts work (IFS) and trauma-informed nervous system regulation, we teach your body how to safely settle. We help your system recognize when it is safe to soften, allowing you to rest, digest, and anchor your connection with both yourself and your baby.

Maternal Spheres

Supporting every phase of your reproductive journey

Maternal and reproductive mental health is a deeply diverse landscape. We offer high-attunement virtual support for:

Identity Shifts

Matrescence & Reclaiming Self

Processing the quiet, profound grief of losing your previous independent identity, career path, or sense of ownership over your own body. We help you navigate the complex transition from “me” to “mother” with compassion and self-trust.

Postpartum Mood States

Postpartum Depression, Anxiety, & OCD

Navigating the physical and emotional distress of intrusive thoughts, relentless worry, panic, sleep-deprived rage, or a flat, heavy numbness. We focus on somatic stabilization to calm your body’s alarm states and restore calm.

Medical Shock

Birth Trauma Processing

When labor, delivery, or a medical intervention didn’t go as planned, your body can be left holding onto physical shock, fear, or boundary violations. We use gentle EMDR and Somatic Experiencing to help file the trauma away as finished history.

Grief & Hope

Pregnancy After Loss & Infertility

Managing the intense hypervigilance of carrying a baby after experiencing pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or a difficult fertility journey. We hold a protective space to navigate your grief and build a real, felt sense of safety.

Our Clinical Framework

Body-centered healing for reproductive transitions

Because postpartum exhaustion and reproductive grief affect your body’s baseline, we weave together specialized clinical modalities:

Somatic Therapy

Calm the Matrescence Alarm

Maternal anxiety and hypervigilant safety checks are highly physical. We track these somatic cues to help your nervous system release daily alarm energy, slowing your heart rate and releasing tension in your chest and stomach.

EMDR Reprocessing

Reprocess Delivery Wounds

If memories of your delivery room, medical interventions, loss, or pregnancy scares trigger a racing heart or tears, we use gentle EMDR to help file those events as past history so you can find comfort today.

IFS Parts Work

Support Your Protective Parts

Parenthood naturally activates self-blaming parts, an inner perfectionist chasing “good mother” scripts, and deep safety protectors. We connect with these exhausted inner parts with curiosity, helping resolve inner conflict.

Answering Your Concerns

Common questions about pregnancy & postpartum healing

Navigating maternal transitions takes real safety. Here is how our clinical approach supports your choices.

What are intrusive thoughts, and how do we treat them without panic? +
Intrusive thoughts, such as flashes of accidental harm or catastrophic failures, are a common, protective mechanism of the maternal brain. Your brain is looking for threats so intensely that it generates scary images to keep you alert. Talk logic alone rarely satisfies this signal. We use parts work (IFS) to understand the fear and somatic tracking to calm your body’s alarm, letting the thoughts naturally recede.
How does birth trauma affect my nervous system’s connection to my baby? +
When a labor or delivery involves sudden complications or medical shock, your system records it as a threat. This can lock your body in a persistent freeze or hypervigilant state. Because bonding requires a baseline of felt safety, feeling physically raw can make it hard to feel connected to your baby. By using gentle somatic processing, we help your system discharge that shock, supporting the safe biology of attachment.
What is matrescence, and why does it feel like a crisis of identity? +
Matrescence is the developmental transition into motherhood. Just like adolescence, it is marked by major hormone shifts, physical changes, and a real shift in identity and social role. It is completely normal to feel disorientation, relational friction, and quiet grief for your previous independent self. We honor this transformation, helping you integrate your previous identity into who you are as a parent now.
